Vincent van Gogh: biography, paintings and prints

Zundert, 1853 – Auvers-sur-Oise, 1890

Dutch Post-Impressionist painter. He began painting at 27 and in barely a decade produced some 860 paintings, from the dark peasant scenes of Nuenen to the intense colours of Arles and Saint-Rémy. He sold very little during his lifetime; today he is one of the best-known artists in the world, largely thanks to his letters to his brother Theo.
