Leonardo da Vinci: biography, paintings and prints

Vinci, 1452 – Amboise, 1519

Painter, engineer and scientist of the Italian Renaissance. He trained in Florence in Verrocchio’s workshop, worked in Milan for Ludovico Sforza and spent his last years in France in the service of Francis I. Fewer than twenty of his paintings survive, but his sfumato technique and his study of nature changed European painting.
