Eugène Delacroix: biography, paintings and prints
Charenton-Saint-Maurice, 1798 – París, 1863
The leading painter of French Romanticism. Against the precise drawing of the Neoclassicists he championed colour and movement, with subjects from history, literature and travel, such as his stay in Morocco in 1832. His use of colour influenced the Impressionists.
